The
Importance of Donations
When a donation is made to the James
Huard Vietnam Veterans Chapter 267 its provides the
financial and moral support to the local community and
allows us to continue our commitment to the community.
When a donation is made it provides us
the ability to support a variety of worthwhile causes that
benefit veterans and their families. We disburse
approximately 75% of the donations as direct help to those
in need; and 25% as indirect help and fund raisers.
The
Chapter donation policy and form (available on this site)
are used to identify those in need and assist in managing
the distribution of funds. Additionally, the Chapter
leadership attend the VVA National Convention where they
receive updates on the Vietnam Veterans of America’s best
practices.
Organizations that Chapter 267 support
are:
The USO
American Legion
Vietnam Veterans Wall,
Childhood Cancer
Burn Fund for
firefighters.
Veteran's Haven, Inc.,
which distributes necessities to veterans in need who have
no other means of support including food, clothing,
counseling, living quarters, other available support
referrals and job connections.
Often donations are disbursed to
address special circumstances such as helping a veteran’s
elderly widow pay property taxes. During the holiday season,
thousands of dollars are donated towards Thanksgiving and
Christmas meals for homeless veterans and toys are
distributed to thousands of children in our area.
Fund-raisers, that provide a
reasonable return on investment are considered traditional
events.
The Chapter also develops longer-range
plans to identify major areas needing support.
Such as:
Children of Agent Orange
Homeless women veterans (having
emotional problems)
Veterans suffering from
hardships beyond their control
Widows of deceased veterans with dependent children or
grandchildren
There is no way we can fully express
our gratitude for your generosity. We at Chapter 267 are
continually inspired by the dedication of donors who answer
the call to give again and again.
Our relationship with the community
remains strong as the bond between our members and the
stakeholders in the community – people.
Chapter 267 is proud of its long history of service
to those in need and we need your support continue the
tradition.
